The Grand Bear is a signature Jack Nicklaus 18 hole championship course which opened in October 1999. The course presence on the Mississippi Gulf Coast includes 650 acres of natural habitat and environment and is bordered by two rivers, the Big Biloxi River and the Little Biloxi River, and features Mississippi wetlands and pristine sandy white beaches. The course presence on the Mississippi Gulf Coast includes 650 acres of natural habitat and environment and is bordered by two rivers, the Big Biloxi River and the Little Biloxi River, and features Mississippi wetlands and pristine sandy white beaches. The course, which is located off Highway 49, has five different tee levels of play - Grizzly Bear, Golden Bear, Brown Bear, Black Bear and Teddy Bear. In addition to the course, Grand Bear has a 400-yard driving range, putting greens, chipping areas and a majestic log cabin clubhouse. Grand Bear was recently named one of the "Top 100 Public Courses in America" and the "Best Place to Play Golf" in the Mississippi by Golfweek magazine. Last year, it was awarded a 4 1/2 star rating in Golf Digest's "Best Places to Play" guidebook - the only Coast golf course to receive this distinction. |
